Jan De Nul Group has been contracted by Nakheel, part of Dubai Holding Real Estate, to handle marine works for the Palm Jebel Ali project. The scope includes dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling, and sand placement, with the goal of preparing the island's 13.4-kilometre area, 16 fronds, and 91 kilometres of beachfront for villa construction. The marine works are set to be completed in just over two years, involving the use of specialized equipment such as the trailing suction hopper dredger "Brunelleschi" and land equipment mobilized from Dubai. The project will require approximately 200 million cubic metres of sand.
