Dubai has launched the first phase of a $2.7 billion expansion of the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), aiming to make it the largest indoor events venue in the region. Mace, the UK-based firm behind London’s Shard and Battersea Power Station, has been appointed by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) to lead this phase, set to finish by 2026. The expansion will add 140,000 square meters of exhibition space in Phase 1, eventually reaching 180,000 square meters across 26 halls and 1.2 kilometers upon full completion.

Approved by Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the project aligns with the city’s Expo City Dubai goals, the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, and the Al Maktoum International Airport expansion, strengthening Dubai's position as a premier global destination for mega-events and exhibitions.
