Breaking News: Dubai Initiates Search for EPC Firms for $22 Billion Tunnels Project
Dubai Municipality is seeking prequalification from engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies for the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels (DSST) project.
This initiative aims to upgrade Dubai's sewerage system to a gravity-based system, enhancing sustainability and reliability for future generations. The project will be divided into six packages, with the first three to be operated by PPP contractors and the fourth by Dubai Municipality.
These packages include the construction of tunnels, terminal pump stations, and links in Jebel Ali and Warsan catchments. The remaining two packages involve expanding and upgrading sewage treatment plants separately.
The project, approved by Dubai's Executive Council, aligns with long-term urban development plans and is estimated to require an investment of AED 80 billion.
Advisers appointed for the project include Tribe Infrastructure Group, Ashurst, and Parsons. Prequalification for EPC contractors precedes the PPP consortium prequalification, with tendering expected to occur in sequential stages.
